My Bio
i first created Aberrant Technologies in 1991 as a working name/alias for sculpture and multimedia projects. It's also a reference to my habit of taking parts of machines and other scrap and adapting them to purposes which were never intended. The name was somewhat inspired by Mark Pauline's machine performance group, Survival Research Laboratories. Since then i've continued building things in a variety of scales, from inches across to over seven feet tall.

Current Residence: New England, somewhere
Favourite genre of music: Aggrotech, percussive, cynical/misanthropic. Also punk, industrial, ska, etcetera...
Favourite style of art: Quasi-figurative.
Shell of choice: Ceramic/polymer laminate.
Wallpaper of choice: Faraday cage mesh.
Skin of choice: Self-repairing.
Favourite cartoon character: Currently Nanoha Takamachi.
Personal Quote: Everybody has their cross to bear; mine's just made of stranger things than most.

Ten years after my last post and i've been "inspired" to pop back in at DA. Unfortunately for some of the worst reasons possible. In all honesty i'd nearly forgotten i had a DeviantArt account, and have been sharing my art in a scattershot fashion across several other media platforms and rarely accessing DA. (i tend to work mostly in physical media, so most of my online sharing is more about showing a sample of the actual work.) Then DA implemented their cack-handed, "you're all automatically opted in to our AI tool DreamUp to sell procedurally generated art from a dataset that incorporates our users' work, but this way we get to keep any proceeds from it and you don't even get credited; get fucked, users." To be fair that was a highly successful way to engage with me, but only in the context of galvanizing me to consider removing all my work from DA and then deleting my account. Obviously if you're reading this that hasn't happened yet, but i am backing up everything here and

Yeah, haven't updated or added in a while. Not that i haven't been busy, but i've terrible neglected my DA account. Moving soon and will be setting up for New Haven's City Wide Open Studios event, so there will be pictures from and for that. ... Now that i'm thinking about it i also have a bunch of pictures from Ideat Village as well. And other stuff since i last updated. So i guess i'll get right on that.

Right, it's been a while and i've been terrible about updating my gallery. i've actually completed a couple sculptures since the last entry, and have two in mid-process. (Ironically enough AJOLS is one of those still in process and i've finished two completely different pieces in the interim.) So, finally copied the pictures i've taken of the work so far to my PC and will be editing them in GIMP and uploading over the next week or so. One of the pieces is a birthday present for a friend and is currently titled "Ascend" although that may change when it's finished. All the pieces recently finished or currently close to finished fairly small. H

Thanks for the watch, I appreciate the support!
Hey, Marcus, it was great getting a chance to play with you at Connecticon! I hope to see your frames in action again soon!
Thanks for the watch!
Yup. Nice work. i'd like to commission a picture some time when i have more moneys myself. Unfortunately that time is not now.

...It occurs to me that i've never thanked anyone for watching me. i've come to realize it's good manners on Deviantart (belatedly), but is there some other benefit to having people watch you?
I don't think so, actually. I just say thank you :) I like to talk to people and meet people, so I figure a thank you opens up a dialogue....I think? Hahaha :)
thanks for watching me! glad you like my stuff
Very cool sculptures!
